Loop Rawlins

Loop Rawlins is making an old tradition contemporary again.

The Tucson, Ariz. cowboy is a trick roper, in the style of the cowboys who did it years ago.

And he’s taken his act as far as the stage of “America’s Got Talent,” qualifying as a semi-finalist in the 2014 series. He’s toured with Cirque de Soleil for three years, as part of their western show, and has worked such rodeos as the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver and Rodeo Rapid City.

Rawlins adds gun spinning and whip cracking to his act, similar to a Wild West show, just like the man after whom the Buffalo Bill Rodeo is named.

He’s honored to work the rodeo that is within a mile of Buffalo Bill’s home. Buffalo Bill “was a showman,” Rawlins said. “I definitely have to thank him, because I don’t know if there would be a wild west show without him.”
