Kristen Schott

2008 Miss Rodeo Nebraska

Kristen Schott

“Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”

Kristen Schott is the 21-year-old daughter of Daniel and Debra Schott of Battle Creek, Nebraska, and as Miss Rodeo Nebraska 2008 she couldn’t be more excited to have the opportunity to represent all of the things she loves.

Kristen is currently attending the University of Nebraska—Lincoln as a Regents scholar majoring in Business Administration and Pre-law. She is also working on a dual minor in psychology and communications. She has been recognized on the Dean’s list. At UNL Kristen is serving as President of her Equestrian Team and also represented UNL at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Competition in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 2006. She is a member of the UNL Honors Program and the Chancellor’s Leadership Class of 2005. Kristen is hoping that all of the time she has put into her education will eventually lead her to become a lawyer specializing in agriculture and equine cases.

Oh The Places You’ll Go! is Kristen’s theme inspired by Dr. Seuss. During the summer, Kristen works at a feedlot as a pen rider and feeder and she is a volunteer at S.M.I.L.E., a therapeutic riding center for the disabled. She also volunteers her time as a horse project leader for the Elkhorn Valley 4-H Club. She presently continues her love for public speaking as a NSAA certified speech judge.

Kristen represented Madison County Fair & Rodeo as their Princess in 2001 and again in 2003 as the Madison County Fair & Rodeo Queen. In 2006, Kristen was a part of Nebraska’s Big Rodeo as she was crowned Miss Burwell Rodeo.

During her spare time Kristen enjoys team roping, reading, barrel racing, cooking, cattle drives, traveling, and working with colts and problem horses.

Kristen’s ultimate goal is to learn something from everyone she comes in contact with and every challenging situation she encounters. As Miss Rodeo Nebraska 2008, Kristen hopes to reach out to those who are new to the great sport of rodeo and convert them into diehard fans! Kristen would like to represent not only Nebraska, rodeo, and the western way of life, but also her Christian values and her hometown area.
