A masterpiece from one of the founding fathers of the NEBRASKAland DAYS Governor’s Western and Wildlife Art Show will be the featured piece during the 2012 edition of the show. Ted Long’s “Last Farewell” will be auctioned off on Friday, June 15th during the Art Reception at the Quality Inn and Suites.
Long, who considered “Last Farewell” one of his finest works, was dedicated entirely to the fascinating legacy of the Old West, so much so that his North Platte, Nebraska, studio is situated in a century –old Log cabin on a ranch his great-grandfather homesteaded in the 1800’s. Long died in 2007, but left a legacy in art that will last for generations to come. Thanks to the generous support of Show underwriter Great Western Bank and Cinda’s Accents in North Platte, Long’s work returns to the show he helped create.
This year’s artist lineup is still taking shape. Artists who have committed to this point include Penny Christensen, Russell Christensen, Kay Cooper, Lori Dalrymple, Don Dane, Robert DeLeon, David Dorsey, Linda Egle, Marilyn Frisbie, Sharon Hesket Sahlfeld, Sondra Jonson, Megan Moffett, Nicholas Moffett, Sue Perez, Rick Rasmussen, Barbara Schaffner, Eric Sterns, George Stewart and Al Thomas.
The Art Show Reception will be Friday, June 15th, at the Quality Inn & Suites, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Governor’s Art Show & Sale will be Saturday, June 16th, from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Quality Inn & Suites with a free admission.
