- US Cellular Summer Jam Concert Series June 27-28
Seven-time GRAMMY award-winning trio Lady Antebellum announced that their headlining TAKE ME DOWNTOWN TOUR 2014 will roll into North Platte at the US Cellular
Summer Jam Concert Series at the NEBRASKAland DAYS Wild West Arena on June 27th.The group, which was scheduled to perform for NLD 2013 prior to Hillary Scott’s pregnancy, made good on their promise to play the date this year.
“We’re really pleased to see Lady A come back to North Platte,” said Concert Committee Chairman Hans Julius. “Many of our patrons were disappointed when the band had to cancel last year.”
“We spent almost every day last year backstage writing for our album GOLDEN, so we
were really focused on writing songs that would connect with the fans in these arenas. We definitely learned a lot about ourselves as live performers and the type of catalog we wanted to have so that we could go out and try to give the fans the best show they’ve ever
experienced,” explains Lady A’s Charles Kelley. ”All of that was the jumping off point
for this tour, and now it’s time to take it to the next level.”
Opening for Lady Antebellum will
be Grammy Nominated David Nail, who’s scored multiple top ten singles. His latest effort “Whatever She’s Got” is moving up the charts quickly.
Billy Currington With Special Guest Tyler Farr
Rounding out the Concert Series on June 28th will be Billy Currington, who just scored his seventh number one single “Hey Girl”, the first release off his fifth studio album.
The title of Billy Currington’s new album, Enjoy Yourself, says it all. “That’s what I want people to think about doing when they hear my music,” the happy-go-lucky Georgia native says. “I want them to have a good time.” And a good time is clearly what they’re having.
He’s garnered an impressive ten Top 10 hits, with six of those hitting No. 1 – “Pretty Good At Drinkin’ Beer,” “That’s How Country Boys Roll,” “People Are Crazy,” ”Don’t,” “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right” and “Good Directions.” He’s sold millions of albums and has been selected to tour with the likes of Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Sugarland. Tour mate Carrie Underwood notes that Billy’s “talent and charm” have made crowds fall in love with him. He also received the compliment of a lifetime from David Letterman, who said about Billy’s “People Are Crazy” performance, “This song will change your life. You’re not going to do any better than this song here.”
His multiple nominations include two 2010 Grammy nominations (Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song) for “People Are Crazy,” which also received nominations for Single and Song of the Year from the Academy of Country Music, as well as Single, Song and Video of the Year from the Country Music Association. He was honored with a 2006 nomination for Top New Male Vocalist at the ACMS, which followed 2005 ACM and CMA nominations for “Party For Two,” his duet with Shania Twain
Joining Currington is newcomer Tyler Farr, who had one of the most memorable singles of 2013 with “Redneck Crazy”.
